INTRODUCTION

Eastwood Tamil Study Centre (ETSC) is a non-profitable organisation, which is funded by the Department of Education and Training (DET) as well as parents of the ETSC students.

The main objective of this school is teaching Tamil language and its culture.

ETSC is currently functioning at Eastwood Public School (EPS) with a contract signed with the principal of EPS. This contract has a number of stipulations that ETSC must abide by.

ENROLMENT OF STUDENT

New students could be enrolled with the forms available here or by contacting any executive members or teachers.

From 2006, ETSC streamlined the enrolment details of students. The main aim is to have up-to-date important information such as address and emergency contact details. Therefore ETSC has introduced a re-enrolment form for the current students and an updated enrolment form for new students which requires few more details than previous ones.

Parents are requested to give ETSC any special care that their child/children may require such as food allergy, etc. Please attach a separate sheet with the enrolment/re-enrolment form, if needed.

We must have the enrolment details of the attending students for insurance and other legal purposes. Please ensure your duly completed enrolment/re-enrolment form is returned to the Secretary of ETSC by the second week of Term 1. A Student whose information is neither complete nor available may not be covered by the insurance and school may not be responsible in case of an accident.

PROHIBITED EMPLOYMENT DECLARATION

By Australian law requirement, whether voluntary or paid worker who is in contact with children must sign the above declaration. Almost all parents of ETSC are at some stage required to help in the school activities. Therefore we advice each and every parent and guardian should sign this form during the enrolment.

However it is not essential to sign the form if you are not involving with any of the ETSC activities. You may seek an independent legal advice if you are unsure of your status as a prohibited person.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The main aim of our code of conduct is to uphold the values of ETSC and to satisfy the contractual obligations with DET as well as the hosting school.

The following Code of Conduct has been observed in our school since 2004.

A student who is in breach of the code of conduct would get only one warning before the student’s parents are informed of the behaviour.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

ETSC always enjoys the voluntary contribution of the parents in activities such as caring the students during the school hours (especially drink breaks), class-coordinating and helping in cultural events such as Kalai Villa, Family Fun Day, etc.

Any parent or guardian, who is willing to assist ETSC in caring for students during the school hours, please mark your name in the list corresponding to the date which you are available for your service. This list could be found in a folder at the entrance of the school.

You may also approach any committee member whose information is given in this information sheet or any teacher to discuss any issue.

FEES AND PAYMENTS

Please make sure your parent contribution is paid by the second week of each term. However ETSC’s preferred option is payment in 2 instalments, first one at the beginning of the year for Terms 1 & 2 and the second one at the beginning of third term for Terms 3 & 4.

This year, ETSC has decided the following fees are applicable per term per family:

One Student

$25

Two Students

$40

Three or more Students

$45

Anyone willing to give extra contribution please feel free to do so. Please ensure that the treasurer gives a receipt for your all contributions.

There are other contributions for events such BBQ, annual dinner. Details of these contributions will be advised at the appropriate time by the committee.
